PHOTO AND IMAGE DUPLICATION SERVICES AND PRICES

(All fees and other information effective as of October 17, 2007. Fees are subject to change without notice.)

Information for Production and Duplication Fees for Images and Other Media

  • All rates are calculated as "per image" unless otherwise noted.
  • Patrons are eligible to receive a 10% discount on total price of incurred production fees, provided they purchase a membership or keep one in good standing.
  • Current members receive a 10% discount on duplication fees and research services, unless otherwise noted.
  • Postcards, posters, calendars or other single-use mass reproduced products are subject to special contractual agreements with the WSHS.
  • Prepayment required for on photographic print reproduction, photocopy services and research services.
  • Larger orders and International orders may require additional postage.
  • Rush mail orders are calculated at 2x the above rate for staff time, plus any additional airfreight costs.

Production Category - Black and white prints

  • Up to 5"x7" - $8.00
  • 8"x10" - $12.00
  • 11"x14" - $20.00
  • 16"x20" - $35.00

Pricing adjustments:

  • If no negative, add $8.00
  • Larger prints and Panorama prints: fee subject to price quote

Production Category - 35mm slides; color transparencies; color copy negative

  • $5.00 per 35mm slide
  • Minimum slide order: $15.00
  • 4"x5" color transparency: $50.00
  • Color copy negative: $25.00

Production Category - scans and digital photography; other digital media

  • 300 dpi JPEG: $15.00
  • 600 dpi TIF: $30.00
  • Other non-image digital media: $25.00 per CD/DVD, per order

Pricing adjustments:

  • Image file price if already scanned and viewable on the WSHS website: $15.00 per image

Production Category - Photocopies

  • $0.25 per copy up to 100
  • $0.40 per copy after the first 100
  • $0.35 per copy (11x17 paper)
  • Photocopying of primary manuscript materials, photographs, fragile or oversize books, and maps may be restricted.

Postage and Handling

  • 1st class U.S. mail (photocopies)
  • Under 5 pages - $1.00
  • 5-39 pages - $3.50
  • 40-59 pages - $5.00

Larger orders and International orders may require additional postage.
Rush mail orders are calculated at 2x the above rate for staff time, plus any additional airfreight costs.

Usage Category - Books (includes CD-ROM and videotape format distribution; does not include online distribution)

Pricing adjustments:

  • Fee rate is adjusted at ½ of listed price, for either non-profit 501(c)(3) organizations or book authors with self-published works under 2,999 copies. Only one type of fee discount may apply.
  • Images used as book covers are calculated at 2x the fee rate.

Under 499 copies - $20.00
500-2,999 copies - $25.00
3,000-9,999 copies - $40.00
10,000-24,999 copies - $75.00
25,000+ copies - $150.00

Usage Category - Periodicals

Pricing adjustments:

  • Fee rate is adjusted at ½ of listed price, for non-profit 501(c)(3) organizations.
  • Images used as periodical covers are calculated at 2x the fee rate.
  • Rate does not apply to usage as online periodicals (this is an additional Internet usage fee).

Under 5,000 circulation - $15.00
5,000-9,999 circulation - $20.00
10,000-49,000 circulation - $50.00
50,000-99,999 circulation - $75.00
100,000+ circulation - $150.00

Usage Category - Newspapers

Pricing adjustments:

  • Images used on newspaper covers are calculated at 2x the fee rate.
  • Rate does not apply to usage as part of online newspapers (this is an additional Internet usage fee).
  • Commercial-Advertising usage fees for newspapers are calculated at 2x the fee rate.

Rate for Editorial use in Washington State newspaper - $25.00
Rate for Editorial use in out-of-state newspaper - $50.00

Usage Category - Editorial Multimedia (Broadcast television; cable; video; DVD; CD-ROM)

Pricing adjustments:

  • Fee rate is adjusted at ½ of listed price, for non-profit 501(c)(3) organizations.
  • National usage license fee includes Regional use.
  • International usage license fee includes National and Regional use.

Rate for Regional use (Washington State) - $30.00
Rate for National use (United States) - $50.00
Rate for International use (World) - $100.00

Usage Category - Commercial/Advertising Multimedia (Broadcast television; cable; video; DVD; CD-ROM) Pricing adjustments:

  • Fee rate is adjusted at ½ of listed price, for non-profit 501(c)(3) organizations.
  • National usage license fee includes Regional use.
  • International usage license fee includes National and Regional use.

Rate for Regional use (Washington State) - $50.00
Rate for National use (United States) - $100.00
Rate for International use (World) - $200.00

Usage Category -Internet

Pricing adjustments:

  • Fee rate is adjusted at ½ of listed price, for non-profit 501(c)(3) organizations.
  • Internet usage fee may be assessed in addition to other use fees listed.

Editorial usage on website - $25.00
Commercial or Advertising usage on website - $100.00

  • Fee rate is adjusted at ½ of listed price, for non-profit 501(c)(3) organizations.

Commercial Exhibit/display/decor, 16x20 or smaller - $50.00
Commercial Exhibit/display/decor, up to 24x36 - $75.00
Commercial Exhibit/display/decor, up to 48x72 - $100.00
Commercial Exhibit/display/decor, over 48x72 to 50 Sq. ft. - $250.00
Commercial Exhibit/display/decor, over 50 sq. ft. - @$10/sq. ft.
WSHS Film footage, Commercial/Advertising usage - $30.00/second
